How To Secure A Half Door

Customer has offices with Dutch (half) doors equipped with lever lock sets that lock from the inside while always permitting free egress from the inside. People have entered the offices by reaching over the half door (top leaf was open) and operating the lever set on the inside and then assaulted the employee.

customer wants a way to prevent this. Location has an existing access control system but I’m not sure that fact will enter into the solution. I’m concerned about the life safety implications of any solution.

Anyone have any ideas on how to prevent the public from reaching in over the top of the bottom door leaf and letting themselves in while providing appropriate exiting to the occupants of the office space at the same time?
