Googling shows a consensus of 10 - 20% of insurance discounts for home security systems, however the results tend to circle back to a few older reports that might be biased.

Based on your own experiences offering home security systems, what have you found? Any details would be appreciated.

I think now days the discount is closer to 10% since most people have things bundled with their auto.  I think the bigger thing is insurance companies increasingly requiring homes to have monitored fire systems for larger end homes.

10% of what? The entire premium... the burglary portion?

My insurance company provides ~46% in discounts from my original homeowners premium.  I use a lot of their insurance and financial products - most discounts are related to that.

In contrast to those deep discounts they only provide a $15.79 discount for my alarm per year (~0.6% of gross premium or ~1.1% of the discounted premium).  This discount would decrease if the system were self monitored.

I just checked mine.  My discount is far under 10%-20%.  It is about 2%.
