How Many Simultaneous Streams Can a Single Storage Server Handle?

I'm aware that throughput is a common limiting factor in storage servers. However, I am wondering about the number of simultaneous streams (connections) that a single storage server can handle. Does anyone have some numbers to share on what the maximum number of simultaneous connections is that a storage server can cope with?

By the way, I have read that there are some research going on to achieve 10 million concurrent connections.
