How Do You Handle Remote Physical Access Management?

What is the most common way users handle access control requests when they are away from their networks?

Of course cloud access companies do this, but the vast majority of access control is hostbound/ local to a network server or panel.

For those systems, do users VPN from home or mobile devices?  Do your platforms use an app? What do you use?

Teamviewer, Logmein, UltraVNC, Pfsense, OpenVPN to name a few off top

So the platforms you sell have a PC/Server with access to the internet, and you 'roll your own' in terms of remote access?

Are endusers okay with the approach, or do they use/ have they asked other methods?

It's a case by case basis. Some clients have strict IT Policies and supply Cisco or Juniper VPN credentials. I always inform or ask permission before deploying any remote connectivity.

Just discovered chrome add on to do this, I haven't tried it yet, but this will probably the best and most cost effective option:

I use google remote desktop for my work pc so i can work from home. Not sure I would use that at a client unless you had a dedicated email account for it.
