Hikvision have just announced their new NVR server appliance called Blazer Pro. It can connect to existing DVRs & NVR & offer centralized management & storage. Even Offers a "dual board" design offering complete redundancy. Politics and other arguments aside, it seems like a great little product to me to be honest. Like the 360 degree autotracking dome, Hikvision seem to be coming up with some great new genuine products recently. Comments please!

From Hikvision:

A powerful, convenient and fail-proof server for video management, business intelligence, and data storage.
Hikvision Blazer Pro is an all-in-one Recorder that combines Hikvision’s powerful video management system with data storage into one physical server unit. The Blazer Pro has what it takes to satisfy any requirement – from basic functions like recording, live view, playback, and alarm management, to optional advanced functions such as license plate recognition, people counting report. With our industry-leading double-board design and many advanced video footage and system safety technologies, the Blazer Pro meets the highest demands for features and reliability in critical installations.
With advanced and easy video management, the Blazer Pro is ideal for 128- to 256-channel, medium-sized projects, including shopping malls, buildings, casinos, etc.

Rashid I agree it is an innovative unit and runs the new Hik-Central software as well. We are testing the software in our labs and have several clients interested. We look forward to using those units in the near future for our most complex and demanding applications.

Hi Marty, we have upcoming bidding on Tuesday for Food and Beverage industry and I am interested to bid this product for several reasons:

1. Majority of the IP camera and NVR uses Hikvision.

2. The client wanted to centralize their 240 units deployed cameras.

3. Top management wanted redundant system and does not want to scrap the field deployed NVRs.

4. Using this product, it would be easier for us to set VLAN to isolate and secure the traffic.

Please correct me if I am wrong with the solution we are thinking.

What does "240 units deployed cameras mean"? Are you saying they have 240 sites all with Hikvision NVR or DVRs and need to 'centralize' the system from an administration standpoint?

You have many points to consider and HIKVISION has all of them covered well IF you plan the system correctly before you start the project. I can direct you to the right person at HIKVISION, E-mail me if you need help, thank you.

Since we have signed no disclosure agreement with the F&B company, I pardon for not mentioning the details here. However, they have several IP camera CCTV systems ranging from 4 channel (min) to 32 channel (max) on different location inside the plant perimeter. The brands involve Samsung, HIKVISION, Sony, VIVOTEC and some others. Anyway, we shall be having site survey this coming Tuesday and I will let you know. It was mentioned during the pre-bid that the IT manager prefer HIKVISION. He also mentioned that all system were ONVIF.

By the way my email address is bob.mancia@mizelacorporation.com

Thanks for responding.

Hi Bobby,

BeingONVIF is well and good but be careful about Telemetry as that is the most contentious thing in your project, the could be a mixture of PTZ protocols and forwarding them on to your centralised platform could become a nightmare.

Hi Khan,

Thank you for the information. However, I have not encountered telemetering in video surveillance before. If you can send me more information in my email address, it would be highly appreciated:

Thanks again.

Bobby, by 'telemetry', Rashid is talking about PTZ control integration. ONVIF's PTZ support is not terribly robust and controlling PTZs is complicated.

The risk is if you have PTZs and they need to be integrated via ONVIF, no PTZ controls may be available, the controls may be sluggish, some controls might not work, etc. I do agree with Rashid that this is a risk. There is nothing abstract you can do, you will need to test each combination (PTZ / recorder to be integrated) to determine if there are any issues).
