Michael, thanks!

A few points to highlight from the announcement:

  • This is being marketed as a CMS, not a VMS, meaning that it manages Hikvision recorders but it does not directly record cameras.
  • Hikvision is discouraging this as a competitor / replacement for 3rd party VMSes: "It is not designed to replace a third-party VMS partner already in use. If third-party VMS is in use, the customer is encouraged to continue using the third-party VMS and simply add Hikvision cameras. Alternatively, if an RFP specifies a third-party VMS that actively partners with Hikvision, we would encourage the customer to use the selected VMS with Hikvision cameras."
  • Licensed per camera, with the 'base' appliance or software only coming with 64 (or 300) licenses included.
  • Dealer only and requires a 1/2 day of training.

As for pricing, it is already being listed online at some locations, with an MSRP of ~$8,000 for 64 software only licenses or ~$15,000 MSRP for 64 licenses and the appliance. Assuming that MSRP and typically street price around ~50% less, that would be ~$60 per channel on HikCentral.

While North America promotes HikCentral, Europe continues to promote iVMS-5200:
