Does anyone else think that the new Hikvision 4.0 design took a step backwards compared to their old interface? It looks more amateur compared to their old interface IMO.

Any idea what the 'NSN-9644K' stands for?

EDIT:

Nevermind. I made the assumption that the new/old pictures were from the same unit. I assume the 7716 is straight HikVision and the NSN-9644K is Nelly's flavor of a HikVision 9664.

NSN= Nelly’s Stocking Number?

I love a camera or recorder with no brand name/logo. Nothing says oem quality more than an unbranded product.

You would think that for all the $ these oems put into developing their own firmware (sarcasm) that they could put their brand name and logo in there...

Ironically, NSN also is the designation the GSA uses for National Stock Numbers.

The splash page looks worse.  It looks more communist if you ask me.

The configuration page looks better seems neat yet more options on one page.

Config page looks cleaner I agree.

As far as the splash page, I wouldn’t call it a commie look.

I think they are trying to make clear it’s not just cameras they have but you can connnect a lot of things, like access alarm etc. Aiming towards an intergrated platform.

Fair enough.  But they could have done it without the redness of their flag.  I prefer the old splash page, multiple high rises, modern, enterprise feel.

But to each their own for sure.

I get what they are aiming for, but they could have used a better designer.

If they would like to add some fun they could show the national flag of your country based on your proxy/IP.

I like the old login landing page better as well, you could even see the building in China where your data was being sent. Now, it's just a really generic page that looks like it came from a fiverr project.

Don’t let your imagination run away with you; it’s progressive socialist at best ;)

After using Hikvision for many years I've long ago reached the conclusion that the only thing they're good at is hardware. Their software is the most atrocious, useless, and frustrating crap ever. Probably programmed by a bunch of 10th grade Visual Basic students.
