With the HID OSDP readers we experience very weak LED strip. IT is impossible to see in an outdoor environment. HID has no solution.
Has anyone seen this problem and found a solutions.

How far from it's power source is it?  It could be due to voltage drop

Thanks for the video. Helpful.

The LED behavior looks normal to me. Is the unit being powered via controller of a seperate power supply?

Is putting a shroud over the top of the reader to provide a sun/glare break an option?

Hi Brian, Reader is powered by Mecury hardware MR52 - it is not a power issue. I think a shroud over the top of the reader is an option. I was hoping to get some inspiration, pictures etc.

We have one at our shop and it exhibits the same behavior and looks "weathered" after 2 years of a Wisconsin weather.  Ours is POE powered from a MR52 as well.

My guess is that the plastic is weathered more than any other issue. HID doesn't use a very good plastic for the LED lens. It doesn't even take that long for the led cover to get weathered either. Also even when brand new the reader lights aren't that bright. Best solution is to buy another reader cover.
