Help With Remote PTZ Controls For The Below Periscope?

The periscope I'm working on is on the top of page 2. The RCSS-3000 (the one in the PDF is slightly newer but mechanically the same)

I called the manufacturer, Sirchie, and they say they use the axis q7401 with their periscope. They have a solution but it's around 6K. Too much money for the limited times we will use it remotely. Is there away to figure out how to configure the q7401 with the periscope (just the PTZ part)? I know nothing about PTZ controls but I already have the remote video part taken care of so remote connectivity is not an issue.

If anyone can point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it.

Thanks!

Can you expand on this? Did they say they use the Q7401 to control the PTZ or just to encode the video? What does their 6k solution consist of?

Does the periscope include some form of serial output for sending control signals to the PTZ? If so, does it list specific PTZ protocols it supports?

I recommend confirming with Sirchie first and then we can better assess our options.

John,

Thanks for the quick reply!

It has a cable about the size of a parallel cable head connected to the periscope which connects to a hand held controller. I'll try and calling them again but I'm guessing they may be tight lipped. I'll look for the PTZ protocols on the controller but I don't remember seeing anything.
