Does anyone has any experiences to share about Gorilla Technology www.gorilla-technology.com/ ?  Curious about how their analytics perform or any other experiences with their products.  I looked at them at ISC a year ago but not much more than that to date.  Interested in Smart Retail and Smart Surveillance feedback.

They recently just got another round of funding https://venturebeat.com/2018/12/19/gorilla-technology-raises-15-million-for-real-time-video-analytics/ .

I personally have experience with them in a previous life as a systems integrator and their product was all Vapor Ware. A lot of it was incomplete products. Including horrible OEM partnership with a no name VMS "Fine Technologies" which brings memories of the same issue OnSSI had when they re-skinned the Milestone services years ago. A buddy of mine worked there not to long ago and echoed much of the same. In my honest opinion there are much better products and companies to work with here in the states. Poor products horrible execution and no clear market strategy.

I would like to clear up the misinformation in this posting.

Gorilla Technology Group is relatively new to the US market (18 Months) so it is somewhat unlikely that you would have had experience with them.

Their various software suites are successfully deployed and operating in many locations worldwide and is absolutely not vaporware, as I personally have it running myself. Additionally Gorilla Technology Group is a major Intel Partner having just been showcased in the Intel booth at CES as a Certified OpenVINO product.

There are no OEM partnerships with "no name" VMS systems particularly Fine Technologies. All software is Gorilla Technology Group coding, no re-skinned engines like OnSSI/Milestone.

For anyone looking for information on the Gorilla Technology Group suite of software, integrations, partners and market strategy please contact me at

Gerald, you seem to have several very specific memories of Gorilla Tech, but could you be mistaken?  Can you remember anymore about them?

"Undisclosed #3" Trust me...im not mistaken. Mr Shipley has only been at the place for 2 months. So everything is bright and shiny. Just like any company claiming AI can become an Intel partner its not difficult. Id rather not spend anymore time giving more attention to this topic. If you like you can ping me direct on linkedin or you can check out the Pro Bono work I did for them 21+ months ago in my volunteering section. Edit from my first post I meant "www.finecctv.com"

Oh, finecctv.com, that’s a different story altogether.

Remember, only at Fine can you get cheap DVRs AND access to a large selection of “luxury Patek Phillipe imitation watches”...

Let me be even more clear.....the OEM was not "Fine Technologies" it is "www.finecctv.com" who is literally about 2.7km away from Gorilla HQ.

“www.finecctv.com" who is literally about 2.7km away from Gorilla HQ.

So you’re saying “Gorilla’s in the midst” of them?

I've never monkied around with their products, but have talked with them at ISC West. It seemed like a comprehensive offering, yet I couldn't really extract any viable detail from the conversations. Was left with an overall odd impression of them.

Hi Everyone,

I’m Allen Chiu, PDM Director at Gorilla and have been with the company since 2015. My main responsibility is product development and was involved in the POC with NDVision in 2016. I’d like to start by saying that we at Gorilla always welcome feedback from partners, clients, users, and the general public – both positive and negative. It helps us grow as a company and improve our products and services.

Mr. Becker mentioned our solution from a while back that I was involved in and I’d like to clarify a few things. I can’t speak to his or his “buddy’s” involvement with the product or projects, but I can speak about the project itself. We worked to present IVAD (detection analytics) at the time as an analytic solution, not as a VMS solution, to work with FINE NVR because NDVision didn’t offer NVR for that POC in 2016. As you know, an NVR is required for storage recording and as an RTSP source to analytics like IVAD. Really, just about any NVR would have been fine, but NDVision didn’t have one so we purchased the four channel FINE NVR as a demo environment for NDVision to demonstrate flow. FINE NVR is not and never has been our OEM product. We chose FINE NVR because it was a POC and it was only used for video storage. The key from us was analytics. So in essence, our IVAD was the analytic piece that worked with FINE NVR, and they both worked in the NDVision POC. Since 2016, we’ve been able to continue to improve, innovate, and update or replace the solutions we provide in order to use them effectively in the real world. We no longer offer IVAD or integration with that VMS as they are outdated and simply not viable.

As you may have seen, our current IVAR (Intelligent Video Analytics Recorder) solution provides comprehensive video analytics tools with VMS functions and capability. Intel, for example, recently highlighted IVAR’s capabilities in a railway station in Taiwan here: https://solutionsdirectory.intel.com/Storys/%E2%80%8BFengyuan_Railway_Station_implements_advanced_video_analytics_and_IoT_solutions_to_ensure

We look forward to seeing more about real experiences with us and our solutions. And of course, we are always available to field questions or comments directly so do feel free to reply in this discussion thread or DM us here:  allenchiu@gorilla-technology.com

Thank you,

Allen Chiu, PDM Director at Gorilla

SMH...so since 2016 to now Gorillas still have no 3rd party VMS strategy. Big miss other then to say oh we are doing it this Qtr 2019... just to tick the box on the IPVM expose. Not a good practice as a product manager then or now. Even more so a bigger miss by the head of the company to not fully understand his place in the physical security ecosystem. Hi Gerald,

We have some more specific information about our new product, IVAR, for you.

Gorilla developed IVAR as a total solution for our customers.

Though we are more focused on promoting our IVA (Intelligent Video Analytics) functions, IVAR actually works as a complete VMS, and contains functionality to integrate with NVR’s or other VMS’s, including video storage and playback as well as our IVA functions of facial recognition, behavior detection and so on.

While users can use IVAR as a standalone VMS, those with an existing VMS can currently use RTSP from those VMS’s to integrate with IVAR. Actually, IVAR is already deployed on many sites in this way and in cooperation with Milestone, NX, and other NVR’s.

To offer more flexibility in IVAR to clients with specific requirements, we have developed and continue to develop API’s for easy integration with clients existing VMS’s and/or NVR’s. For example, partners such as IPConfigure have already integrated IVAR into their system and provided demo in GSX 2018. Gorilla’s plan to integrate with more VMS systems, such as Milestone and Genetec, is on schedule. As a side note on this, Gorilla is a member of the ONVIF organization, so IVAR is compatible with most of IP cameras.

If you are interested in more information about IVAR and its functionality, we can talk more in this forum and you can also see our IVAR snapshot below.

Allen

Any relation to the Gorilla + Airship all-in-one integration?
