I currently manage 35 Pelco Digital Sentry NVR's and over 1400 cameras for a company that is geographically dispersed throughout Alaska, Washington Georgia and several vessels. While Pelco Digital Sentry NVR's are decent for their intended purposes. They are a nightmare to administer when you're an department of one. I have been demoing both Genetec and Milestone at one of our facilities in Washington trying to figure out which one I would like to move to. I'd like to get feedback from all you fine people on your pick. I'd also like to hear your likes and dislikes. The intended installation will be federated so I actually get some feedback and reporting on any issues instead of having 35 independent NVR's that I have to manage each one individually.
Also this is the recommended build of a server to run at one of my facilities that has 75 cameras of various MP's from 1.3 to 5. I am a little concerned that it doesn't have enough ram or any recommendation for an NVidia video card to take advantage of the GPU processing power or hardware acceleration. Does anyone have a better suggestion for a better server build?
