How Can You Tell When Manufacturers Like Arecont Are Foreign Owned?

Greetings all,

I was just asked a question about Arecont being owned by a foreign company.  Their website indicates Arecont Vision® is a US company with headquarters, R&D, manufacturing, and support in Glendale, California.  But I am aware of "ways around" declaring foreign ownership including proxy agreements where a company can claim legal separation between themselves and the parent company.

Arecont tried to sell itself to a Chinese company last year but it failed.

Historically, Arecont has been an American company but the future of Arecont is in question, generally, given their ongoing problems.
