For Those Of Us That Couldn't Attend ISC West, What/Who Was Your "Best Of Show"?

It's always helpful to get direct feedback from attendees who may see or experience things at ISC that they find novel, interesting, or disruptive (without the overhang or influence of supposed "industry experts" who are paid shills!)

Thanks in advance.

BTW, IPVM= not the paid shills I was referring to just in case anyone reads this wrong!

The IBM demo!  It worked flawlessly.

Literally, according to the show, the 'Best in Show' was the Halo sensor. We reviewed it here 5 months ago. It is the type of combo product that may or may not work that the show likes to award.

In terms of what we saw the biggest development and most significant potential is the SAST IP camera app store. I give it 50 / 50 chance to fail / succeed but they are well organized, have made a lot of progress and obviously have a lot of money behind it.

I have to wonder what Axis would do today if they could go back to a time when Bosch and Sony pushed them to help create ONVIF?

Bosch and Sony did not push them. It was PSIA led by Cisco that motivated Axis et al to respond. Back in 2008, there was significant concern that Cisco would be a major factor at least based on Cisco putting money into video surveillance sales and marketing.

Thanks John ..... familiar with Halo, but not SAST.  The Halo sounds great on paper, but it is a bit pricey I think and also only intended to cover a specific volume of airspace, since you can only expect to sense vapors so much as the volume of air increases.  This results in a need for multiple Halo sensors to cover what could be an open area with significant dilution of the vapors ... hence the need for multiple Halo senors ... which brings me back to the pricey comment.

Did anyone see solutions specific to access control, locks, or access integration with video or other third party apps?  How about anything related to wireless battery operated locksets?
