Find Out How Much Data A Camera Is Using

I want to get the approximate amount of data that a camera is using.

4Megapixel uniview camera.
Bitrate = 4096

Any way I can get an approximate number in Mbps?

For example...
1 camera set this way = 4Mbps

Trying to figure out how many cameras we can put on a given network...

The bitrate is the amount of data.  4096 Kbps = 4Mpbs.

Of course, if the stream is VBR, than this may ways some as there are peaks and troughs.

Ahhh thanks!

So I have been doing it right!

bitrate of 4096 = 4Mbps

thanks again!

Your best bet is to test the camera at the site where to plan to install the camera to get a true bandwidth measurement from the camera.

That being said your server/NVR will typically be your limiting factor before your network gets saturated.  So you want to review your NVR or VMS (server) bandwidth maximum. Use minimum 1G uplinks between switches and your server and unless you are adding 100+ cameras your network will be fine.

Speaking of which, Michael, where can this be found in ACC? Was looking for it the other day and it must be buried deep.

Bandwidth per camera?  Right click on the site in the camera tree then left click on "setup".  Left click on the server in the camera tree.  Then left click on "Recording and Bandwidth"
