With the Chinese government massively subsidizing, and pushing their crowned horse Hikvision, Lots of crazy things have been happening lately with Manufacturers. Genetec "banning"/charging a premium, US embassy replacing their Hikvision system after figuring out what it is, Bosch and Team up, and the massive denial of HD analog with big manufacturers.

That being said one of the more mainstream Manufacturers has/is doing something rather interesting. Panasonic Has released some info for a "value series" for a next year release. Oddly other than the varifocal lens it strangely mirror an Adivdia camera, which is a re-branded Acti camera.

Panasonic WV-V2530L1 Panasonic

Advidia E-37-V Advidia

ACTI E710 ACTI

right now there are 4 cameras that strangely look like other brands right now, sign of things to come?

#1, we covered this here: Panasonic Embraces Advidia OEMing of ACTi, Dahua and Hikvision

So what you are seeing is real and has already occurred and been acknowledged.

not with the Panasonic name on it though

"On the other hand, it does beg the question of whether Panasonic would or should release their own line of low-cost Chinese competitive cameras. For now, though, Advidia serves that role."

My point is that Panasonic is releasing them under their name not though Advidia. one of their prime sales pitches is that they dont OEM anyone else's stuff ( the equipment with "Panasonic" name on it)

Is this something they have claimed in any printed or online materials, or just something they say with a wink?

I asked a Japanese product manager directly if they made the Adividia product and he, while somewhat embarrassed, admitted they were OEM from Chinese third party manufacturers.

Actually, Dahuan cameras rebranded Panasonic were noticed several months ago, as was mentioned in another thread.

That Advidia/Panasonic model is a Dahua camera. The 1080p version of this, give or take: http://www.dahuasecurity.com/en/us/pro_details.php?pid=1009

With a slight modification to the housing by the look of it.
