Exacqvision Client - Optical Zoom

We installed an Axis Q1765-LE back in early 2016. At the time EV allowed the camera utilize the optical zoom feature. in the firmware notes it states they've taken out the optical zoom and can only use the zoom functionality via the web browser. Effectively, making a really expensive 1080p camera rather useless for EV.

I've seen the Q1785-LE is similar but doesn't have the notes stating 'optical zoom only in web browser' like the other camera. I've reached out to tech support, and have gotten rather useless responses both from the phone and emails. I tried multiple avenues to see this answer through. I've reached out to our Axis rep and they're stated it should work but would need to gather information about that.

This is turning into a rant rather than a question. Does anyone know of a work around with either camera from Axis using Exacq server/client. If not is there another camera with similar features that allows optical zoom within EV?

any help would be appreciated would like to close this out with the customer.
