DW SPOT Module

We are trying get the streams from another manufactures NVR/Cameras via a DW Spot.
If we "Add DVR/NVR Manually", I enter the public IP and then "Port" (not sure what this is supposed to be. I can access the camera via a web browser using public ip:50000. I can access the NVR with a web browser using public IP:80). I am continually getting the message "password not matched or failed to get information from camera".
If I enter Camera manually, ONVIF, Public IP:50000, then click on :"Get Stream", all URL fields get populated but we still have no video(Frames Per Second 0 FPS/0 FPS). The fact that it is actually connecting to the camera makes me think that we can get this to work, but probably need to alter something to actually see video?
Example (this self populated after entering "ONVIF URL" and "Get Stream": RTSP 1st URL: rtsp://xx.xxx.xxx.xx:554/1/stream1/Profile1
I have tried manually entering the camera using RTSP Protocol and varying port # etc, but do not seem to get as far along as entering ONVIF protocol.

Hoping maybe someone has an idea?

I would suggest identifying the camera brand and changing the title to “can someone help with a decoding issue”

Are you using h.264, h.265?

Whats the resolution you are calling for?

I would agree that more information is needed on the device you are attempting to have the DW Spot connect to. Does Onvif device manager display the device manager ? Have you opened a support ticket with DW (https://digital-watchdog.com/support/) ?

I did contact DW support.  The reply is that "being a 3rd party NVR & cameras, it is difficult to say if the stream is correct or not" (I totally understand).  they also said that "if it does not work on VLC it will not work on the spot module".

I am not certain if we should be trying to use ONVIF or RTSP?

Would ONVIF Device Mgr work remotely?  We pretty much have full access to the site and even to the DSL modem GUI as well.

Agree with UM#2 the resolution could be an issue. The receive and transmit side may need to have the correct resolution settings to display the image.

In regards to the password mismatch you will need to insert that in the RTSP url itself if the camera is not able to be configured for anonymous logins.

Since you can access the camera and nvr on the ports mentioned try using VLC to confirm your stream on port 554 at the remote location, I would then use wireshark running the rtsp filter while you connect to the camera remotely. Now look at the RTSP url, does it have resolution? Good Luck, you did not mention the type of camera you are using.

The cameras are BlueWave, OUI lookup shows Hitron as the manufacture. We have not made any useful progress by asking them.

Curious if we are using VLC correctly?  File-Open Network, I can either enter a URL or click on "open RTP/UDP stream".  I don't think don't think that I need to use the RTP/UDP stream if we are using RTSP, is that correct?

Make sure those cameras arent pushing a MJPG feed. H.264 is probably your best bet, but some manufacturer spit out MJPG or some other codec via ONVIF, and you might have to manipulate the URL.

I would recommend using onvif device manager locally. Discover the camera, log in and stream video. If successful, see what rtsp uri it shows. Then copy that uri into vlc. And verify that it works. Then go from there.

I would agree with part of this. You should be able to use ONVIF device manager on a computer local to the network the DW Spot is on. If you can see the image in the Device manager, then you should be able to have the DW Spot discover the camera. I've used the DW Spot with Dahua and Vivotek cameras. However, the limitation to the DW Spot at the time was the fact it wouldn't display 4MP streams even though the spec sheet did list up to 5MP.

What is the camera model number?
