I wanted to know what the overall opinion on door boxes (Such as the Axis A8105-E or Cyberdata Voip call box) with a built in relay used to tie into access control is. There are many brands of door boxes that have the contact closure built in so that the door box can be connected to access control, however, if the door box were to be removed, wires are then exposed that could potentially allow the door to be opened. Axis and Cyberdata offer a security module to allow the contact closure to be made on the secure side of the door, but a lot of other manufactures do not. So what is the overall take on this practice? Is this a real risk or just paranoia?
Is The Lock Wire Vulnerability On Door Call Boxes Paranoia?
