Does Axis Have The Best Cyber Security Program?

Well when you have as much market share as Axis you are #1 target for exploits.  You need to change the filter you use to look at this, Axis may get exploited more often but their Cyber Security Program is one of the best if not best in the industry PERIOD!  They set the bar very high, yes their products may cost a bit more but you get all of the value their solutions offer including robust Cyber Security and ACAP Integrations far more than anyone else offers.  Also imagine a world where all manufactures use one version of firmware for the entire product line, that makes patching a breeze when you need to push an update.

I prefer a manufacturer who is responsive and open with the exploits/notifications versus one that still believes is Security by Obscurity.

I moved this to its own discussion. Cyber security in general is gaining more attention, and manufacturers programs around cyber security are becoming a selling point (or not, in some cases).

Is Axis the 'best' right now? If not, who has the best overall program, and why?

Thanks Brian, since this is my primary role (cyber) I am all about these discussions.  Looking forward to the input from IPVM'ers, even colored comments :-)

Can't say that they are perfect, but yes, I would say so - at least for those I have so far been in contact with when it comes to this industry. (Wish they would use official CSV instead of their own 'ACV' for addressing vulnerabilities though)

I would agree that Axis has taken great care in making sure that they are on top of the Cyber Security issues. Not sure that this would be a fair statement, I work with and have been using Panasonic Cameras for a long time and found them to be just as good. I personally have not heard or have seen any comment or reports that Panasonic has been put in a position of vulnerability and they or at least in my neck of the wood ( Australia) cover 70% of the critical installation but love to hear from the US as to how they would perceive and rate Panasonic in this arena.
