Does Anyone Use DHCP For Mid To Large IP Camera Systems?

We have always used static IP addresses for our IP cameras. I was wondering if anyone uses DHCP and are there any gotchas or failure modes that I should be worried about (DHCP server availability etc)? We have a mid to large system - approx 1000 cameras.
