Does Anyone Here Cut In Their Own Door Strikes On Aluminum Frames?

What is the best tool to use? It's hard to get a door guy or locksmith out sometimes. So I'm thinking about cutting them in house. I'm looking at some router templates but don't know if that is the right way to go. We have some frames to practice on. I figure cutting a dozen or so should give a good feel for it. What have you found to be most efficient?

I think for both steel and aluminum frames, and angle grinder works best.  You might look at: Best Tool For Cutting-In Strikes? for other feedback.

For aluminum frames, most strikes have a router jig. This should give you the cleanest finish.

I us rotary cutting tools like die grinders with the small 1/8” mandrel and those EZ lock cutting wheels. If its a black or brown aluminum frame i like to use a black paint marker on the edge of the cut so it covers the shiny freshly cut aluminum up and makes it look less conspicuous. Whatever tool you use it should have good balance in your hand so that you are not fighting it to make a straight cut.

This works well if the frame is hollow with no concrete or wood behind it.
