Does Anyone Have Any Experience With A Latch.Com Lock?

I heard a presentation from them today. And I have a few questions about their pitch. Does anyone have any practical experience with them?

I do not like that it is purely cloud based. Also that it uses the end users phones to get updated, so if you lock out someone and they dont use their phone, then you need to travel down there to update the lock.

Thank you

A member recently reported Latch.com support is a challenge. The company/platform is still early, but in terms of field maintenance they seem positioned to work with local building maintenance staff and not field technicians.

Usually the work-around for lacking smartphones is a traditional BLE fob for backup.  I suspect Latch will develop something like this, if they haven't at this point.

Interesting article on the New York Times involving Latch.

Thanks for linking that.  When it was first published, I emailed the company about the used 'in more than 1,000 building in NYC' statement:

"At the heart of the dispute is a keyless entry system designed by the company Latch that has been installed in more than 1,000 buildings across the city."

I have not heard back,  but I'll ask them again.
