In our access classes, we really drive the importance of installing/using DPS (Door position sensors/switches) because unless a door is shut it has no shot at being 'secured'.

As covered in Door Position Switches (DPS) For Access Tutorial, these sensors detect whether or not a door is open or closed and notifies the system door state.
