Deterring Theft In Retail

I have a new potential client in optical retail (sells glasses) who tried video surveillance at her previous location and didn't see the value in the cameras... She's trying to deter thieves who come in during busy hours (in her case, the holidays), or potentially even prevent them from stealing altogether. So far, she's tried:
