Facial recognition has suffered all sorts of criticism over the last few years, most recently in Madison Square Garden where its owner has been accused of using it to ban its "enemies."

Now, the NY Post has a fairly long report defending this and various surveillance technologies (including robots) to deal with rising retail theft and crime in NYC, some excerpts:
