In today's email I received from Dahua, it talks about the new CVI 3.0 standard and how they will now support all three major analog HD standards. Also, 3.0 brings support for up to 4MP recording.

They also mention their new Smart h.264+ compression briefly. They claim up to 70% savings on still images and 40% to 50% savings in daytime video with activity. They are a little behind Hik with this arrival, but might put them back on par with their competition.

Here are the key sections of the email:

"Introducing HDCVI 3.0 – Now in 4-Megapixel! Our HDCVI recorders and cameras offer powerful network performance with a robust feature set, including high image quality, real-time recording, easy plug-and-play installation, extra IP channels, and more. Come check out our state-of-the-art HDCVI recorders – they embrace not just CVI, analog and IP, but also AHD and TVI."

"True 4K – Offering what calls “true” 4K, rolling out solutions for each part of the video surveillance process, namely image capturing, transmission, storage, and display. With new compression technology – Smart H.264+, the technology uses various algorithms to lower bitrates. The end result is compression by as much as 70 percent for still images, as well as 40 to 50 percent for daylight images with moving objects."

Also, in true Dahua fashion, the images are broken and one of the two 'view it online' links is broken as well. Good job guys.

Lol, did you notice the Dahua surveillance storage estimate for the world? 544 PB/day. Which works out to ~54 Tb/sec global bandwidth.

Which might sound impressive until you consider the fact that 100 Netgear XS728T switches could carry that amount of traffic (if aggregated).

Jon, thanks for sharing.

The image I enjoyed the most:

Ah, Dahua wishful thinking...
