If I have a hybrid DVR (analog/TVI/IP) with only 1 ethernet port is there a way to stream the IP cams on a switch straight to the DVR and have the LAN connection to the DVR "pass through" the switch without the IP cams "passing through" the LAN first? Or do I have to send the switch to the LAN first and then back to the DVR? In which case I am adding constant bandwidth to the LAN even it the customer is not logged in. Or could I connect the POE switch AND the DVR to a second switch and connect the 2nd switch to the LAN to keep the IP camera streams off of the LAN?
Sorry I know I need to take your IP course as my networking knowledge has faded due to lack of use. Yes this is Hikvision, yes I work for a large national alarm company that you are not fond of. We are ditching Hikvision for Hanwha however for our low cost video vendor, looks like the timing is good based on the latest Hik news!
