Clinton Public Display Monitors With Axis Camera

Long story short, I work for an end-user with a crime epidemic at our retail stores, and one solution has been to put up Public Display Monitors. I had no input on the product, but we've been using the 32" Clinton Public View Monitors with Axis Camera. Great product, works mostly the way we want it to, but the boss saw another retailer with a similar monitor that shows their company logo in the bottom corner.

I can't seem to get this to work. The monitor itself has Picture in Picture, but that's not quite the the way the other retailer did it. The Axis Camera (M3045-WV) seems to think every file I try to upload as an image overlay is not the right format (even though I am doing exactly as the manual says, Windows 24 Bit BMP, divisible by 4 or 32). But I also noticed the default overlay image (Axis Logo) does not show up on the monitor, only the live stream.

So has anyone else installed these monitors with a custom overlay image? Am I missing something?

Hello,

The custom company logo is loaded into the eprom of the PVM - it does not come from the Axis camera side. Typically, this is something we program at the factory for large retail rollouts.

Feel free to give our tech support a call and we can discuss further options.

Thanks!

I suspected that was the case. Is this something that can be done after the fact? Or only at the factory?

I ask because my boss has already ordered and received about 12.

Unfortunately, no this must be done at the factory.

There is a built-in SD card player that you can use to display a full screen image when no motion is detected. So that may be an option.

If you need the logo banner we can work with you to get the units back to update them.

Give us a call and we can discuss further.

CamStreamer s.r.o.

Hi,

there are three places in the AXIS camera setup / API, where you can define whether image overlay is displayed or not:

1) Setup / Stream settings ... check box + position

2) Setup / Particular stream profile ... check box + position ... if not defined, image overlay behavior is taken from the Stream settings

3) VAPIX image overlay commands ...  if not defined, image overlay behavior is taken from Stream settings

And the rules for the image format work OK ... BMP 24-bit or 4-bit and the size of the overlay image in pixels (width by height) must be exactly divisible by 4.

I hope this helps.

BR, David.

I was unable to get any image to even upload to the camera. Did not seem to matter what I did. I made sure the pixels were divisible by 4, still always said unsupported format.

But I also found just using the stock Axis Logo image that is pre-loaded, is that the image overlay does not display on the monitor, which is using the HDMI output of the Axis Camera. So even if I was able to upload an image, it would not matter regardless, as it would only show up on our recorded imaged, not the display monitor that the patrons use.

I informed my boss about what Dan Clinton said, and he'll check with the uppers to see if our corporation wants to arrange to have future monitors display our logo through the means Dan Clinton mentions.

For now they seem fine with the standard "Recording in Progress" that flashes in red font.
