Cisco Sells Off Service Provider Video Software Solutions Business Including 'Security Video'

What does this mean?

Cisco confirmed with us that this acquisition includes the "security video group", but not much else. There isn't much discussion about Cisco VSM on IPVM, and this comes 2 years after partnering with Identiv for access control.

We know that Permira Funds is acquiring the SPVSS business for $1 Billion from Cisco. They originally sold it to Cisco for $5 Billion in 2012. At the time Cisco already owned and developed a VMS based on its Broadware acquisition, and was just about to announce its release of VSM 7.0 which was a completely different software base than its 6.0 predecessors.

Are there any Cisco Physical Security partners, or end users who have seen or heard about the impact to the video surveillance group?

Is this Meraki or include it?

No, Meraki is a different company, Cisco is their parent company.
