First was NYC's $43M security plan, now Chicago Public Schools (CPS) has announced a $76M school surveillance project, updating and installing cameras at 331 schools in the district over the course of three years. CPD's director of security says that withing three years all schools will be updated.
Camera installation will be prioritized based on a scoring system that includes enrollment, current camera conditions, and the number of incidents in and around the school.
