Considering Cathexis VMS Platform For 700 Camera System

Hi,

We are a university in the DC area with about 700 cameras. Most of our cameras are Axis (600), with some Arecont (30) and older Sonys (40). We are currently using a VMS but finding the software is not being updated and licenses are getting costly $150+ per. I'm getting push by our vendor to switch to Cathexis. My vendor is South African based in the DC area and I understand Cathexis is also South African. I know Cathexis does not have a presence in the US and I don't know of many dealers offering the Cathexis line. Pro and cons are appreciated. I don't know too much about the system and would like to get others take on it. I mostly don't like a single dealer situation.

Cathexis has no local office but it has not been problem. They support us, and always connects in if there's a problem (there are 9 different camera brands and analog cameras on record and also there are failover servers on system.)
