Several years ago, Canadian law enforcement stopped responding to requests from private monitoring firms for response to private deterrent alarm customers. A private firm, RSPNDR, stepped up with a technology and operational platform to deliver on-demand private customer site-response, for whatever (reasonable) service need. Dealers returned with traditional RMR services. And new services for new sources of revenue. Again, in Canada, RMR has a market and market value.
Now, RSPNDR has entered the US via Navada/Las Vegas. Like Canada, LV police (and other munis) lowered the priority to B&F, aka non alarm-response. B&F now common practice across the US, the cause of lots of attrition. New business opportunities are developing in Nevada with predictable site response. We believe this is the beginning of a new generation of remote monitoring and related services, with same or greater RMR market value. Much of the new generation will not require any of the onerous legislation. RSPNDER is just one of several successful business models. The SIAC Model Ordinance is still an embarrassment to most security providers. The Public/Private Partnership is now meaningless.
