Hello,

We have an application where we need this feature. I believe FLIR makes one but the cost was closer to $20k. I really appreciate your feedback.

Infiniti Electro-Optics offers PTZs with this functionality. We compete regularly with FLIR and can typically offer matching specs at a lower price, or superior specs at a similar price. We would need to know more about your application, if you're interested please send me an e-mail: jroutley@infinitioptics.com

Thanks Jubal: Are the GPS/Height coordination features standard on all your company's lines?

Hi Brian,
It is not a standard feature on all our models. However, we custom build the majority of our electro-optic systems, so it can be added to most models.

Instead of having a few standard models that have a lot of features that most customers don't need, we prefer to customize according to their requirements and budget. This allows our clients to get exactly what they want without paying for features they won't use.

If a PTZ camera provides reliable absolute position coordinates, an application could calibrate the camera's PTZ coordinates and then translate GPS coordinates to a PTZ command for the camera. Or is it a requirement that the camera's firmware provide the feature natively?

Was about to write the same!

we support absolute positioning in both ONVIF/SDK and also via analogue control on all of our PTZ devices - generally, it is the control software that interprets the GPS position requirements and sends that as an absolute positioning instruction to the PTZ camera - typically in our arena, radar control or video analytics

Thank you everyone for your feedback. Axis claims to support this in an application that can be downloaded/used in a cameras that support the Axis application platform. The application probably does what Jousha and Mark mentioned by translating GPS coordinates to commands. Has anyone had a chance to test it?

#1, we've asked Axis for feedback on this. Here is Axis directory of apps, btw.

We've received response from Axis on the GPS Tracking ACAP application. From Axis:

Apart from any 3rd party applications that may exist for this, we have a team that is describing and developing technical solutions to various defined use-cases. They have developed an ACAP application that allows you to do this.

This is not a product that we sell and support is thus limited, but we allow customers and partners to try it out to see if it is in line with their needs.

Hi,

pick any Axis PTZ camera and have someone write an ACAP app (embedded) for that cam, that will do GPS PTZ. We can do it for you if you are interested.
