Can the HES 9400 be activated for 8 hours at a shot every day? It says that it is rated for continuous duty. But in reality can it?

Sep 01, 2016Many recommend using a 2005M3 SMART Pac III for continuous duty applications. It rectifies the input voltage of the solenoid.
HES increases the warranty on the strike when you use it:
"Installing a SMART Pac III power controller with any new products extends the 1 year warranty on electrical components, including the SMART Pac III, to the full 3-5 warranty term"

Sep 01, 2016I've used 9600s in the past for exterior doors that were open all day, before the 9400 came out. They're very similar.
The 9600s got warm after a day's use, but as far as I know, none of them failed in the couple of years after we installed them.
I agree with using the SMART Pac, though.
