Burglars Cut Through Bulletproof Glass To Rob Pharmacy

Story here (warning-autoplay video).

Some dude who happened to be hanging around and who happens to be an expert on glass tells the reporter the exact composition of the glass and how the bad guys got through it and how long it would have took.

Just a reminder that PIRs are a good idea even in spots that it would take a sledgehammer and a blowtorch to reach.

Good article Ari.

Just another reminder that security measures are only intended to delay the burglar for "X" amount of time and that nothing is "burglar-proof". Even the highest rated UL burglary safe commercially available is only designed to resist burglary attacks for 30 minutes. If the window lasted the 30-45 minutes that is claimed, you certainly can't say it didn't do its job.

The 3 Ds of burglary protection are "Deter", "Detect" and "Delay". The goal is to try to "deter" the burglar from attempting to enter in the first place. If this doesn't succeed, then you want to "detect" the burglar as soon as possible and have your security measures "delay" him until police or security forces have time to arrive. This requires an effective combination of electronic security systems, physical security devices, and security policies and procedures.
