From Tech Repbulic.

Summary:

Anyone within bluetooth range of a camera can cause it to try and connect to a new wifi SSID. The attacker specifies a non-existent network, causing the camera to go offline for 60-90 seconds while it is trying to connect. Eventually, it gives up and reconnects to the previous network and comes back online.

It sounds like a fix is in the works from Google, and will likely be pushed down to all devices.

Should firmware auto-downloads for internet-connected devices be standard, or even required? Given recent events, and difficulty in finding firmware at times, it might be time for something like this.

I believe in FOTA updates. It's like TeamViewer for integrators. It's gives manufacturers the ability to troubleshoot and provide fixes. It's the next best thing for hardware.
