Best NVR/VMS To Build?

I hope this is not a duplicate post.... seems like it probably is though... :)

We have been using prebuild Dahua and Uniview for some time now...

We used to build our own GeoVision back in the day....

I kind of got the craving to build a system...

Something that has high quality and low costs...   hehehe

Any suggestions?

Try getting into edge recorders. My satisfy your inner geek. Look up Xero 2.0, Intel NUC or Lenovo M series. These are platforms you can build on, toss in your work bag and take anywhere. If you need to design it first, then look up the HP Z2 series so you can then take your CAD anywhere you need to design.

Tech guy from a large VMS company here.

Whatever you end up building, I'd recommend choosing a motherboard with an Intel 'Skylake' or newer chipset. This is the first architecture from Intel to include H.265 encoding/decoding at the CPU level.

This will give excellent viewing client performance and will help future proof as best as you can.
