Are these new AXIS Companion Eye cameras really only compatible with AXIS Camera Companion?!?! Why even put these out? It would seem anyone that voluntarily gets locked in to only one VMS in this day and age is really being taken advantage of.

In practice, no.
Ethan quickly found an RTSP stream that could be used in his Axis Companion Dome V Test:
rtsp://ADDRESS/axis-media/media.amp?Axis-Orig-Sw=true
This stream is shown here in Exacq:
Of course, it goes without saying that it is not supported and Axis could always choose to break it in future firmware upgrades.
That noted, I agree, very strange all around.
