Axis Camera Slowness

I've started seeing a handful of my Axis cameras stop providing video to my VMS software. When I log directly into the camera, I get a login screen where I'm able to enter my user name and password. Once I log in, the camera is extremely slow to respond if it responds at all. If the camera responds, it can take 20-30 minutes to get the Basic Setup screen. Clicking on any of the options in the Setup screen means another 20-30 minute wait for the camera to respond. I've tried rebooting the camera through the System Options/Maintenance page but it doesn't help. If I go power the camera off manually, the camera will sometimes come back normally but other times it doesn't. My Axis Camera Management client reports the camera as "HTTP failed (ping or UDP OK) or Not accessible". I've seen the behavior mostly on my P3354 and P3364 cameras models. They all have the latest firmware installed. Has anyone else seen this behavior?

Hello, Brian Gilbert.

Have you tried a reset by default first? If yes, and the problem persists, place the internet explorer in developer mode and go to the section of the network, to see the milliseconds that it takes to load the video frames, HTML data of configuration of the page and other files / Scripts. The reason for this test is to detect that it is a lack of bandwidth, where a ping can respond without problems, but downloading larger data packets is very slow.

I also recommend you validate the following Axis link and open a support case with them.

Best regards.

Test it either not connected to the internet, if it is, or close the firewall ports to ensure that the camera is not being hit continuously by hackers trying to access the camera > creating a DOS.

Of course, if the camera has already been PWNED, then it could be trying to be part of a botnet attack or other.

I would recommend defaulting the camera and upgrading the firmware and see how it goes then...

Multiple cameras?

Check the network first.

I have no idea what the cause is of the behavior you're seeing, but I have had problems with camera responsiveness before (due to a firmware downgrade) where I was able to restore full functionality by re-applying the firmware using the ftp method rather than HTTP or ACM. Worth a try?

Brian, When you do get this corrected come back and tell us what you had to do.

After much back and forth with Axis tech support, it seems the P3363 and P3364 6.50.1 firmware has a bug in it that causes the slowness. Axis says it will be fixed in the next firmware revision.
