Well this is interesting....

Many integrators fear manufacturers getting between them and their customers. Often integrators will hide or refuse to share who their customers are, to minimize risk of information shared with rivals or 'tampering' from others.

IPVM has obtained new Avigilon documentation that requires integrators to tell the details of who their end users are or Avigilon will refuse the order.

Here is the official statement:

"This end user customer information will be used to validate the purchaser for future support and warranty requirements and will enable us to increase the quality and timeliness of both our Warranty and Technical Support services. It is important to include this form, as purchase orders received without the necessary forms attached will not be processed." [Emphasis Added]

And here is the form integrators need to fill out, including the name of the company, the project name and the full address of the company. They note that "End User Information will not be disclosed to any third parties."

Perhaps a benefit will be that Avigilon can better trace who is not an 'authorized' end user. On the other hand, having all of that information gives Avigilon more power to go around integrators or help rival integrators if they desire.

What do you think?
