hik and dahua are keen to support end users but what are their motives ?

does it help to touch the end customer so you can supply direct ?

dahua now have a formidable 1400 international sales reps poaching anything thats breathing

over a 100 direct customers in italy and 28 in poland surely this is impacting margins for installers

quick shipments from local warehousing diversifying from central distribution in holland

and now local centres in warsaw etc.

do dahua also offer hik sales staff 10k to move to dahua and a 10k wage increase

we did hear a rumour that hik supplied councils direct maybe this is the way industry is

moving

Not concerned about it. Dealing with end users takes extreme patience and explanative skills. They may play around with this, but I think they will quickly go back to supporting dealers only once they figure out how hard it is.

I guess I should say I am not concerned about it in the USA market. IMO, I dont think you should be concerned about it in the European market. USA and UK end user customers are very demanding and I think Dahua and Hikvision will realize they can make more money by simply catering to dealers only thru their current distribution channel. Its a totally different ballgame supplying to end users than it is supplying thru distribution.

I guess a greater concern of mine would be that they sell dealer direct as opposed to thru distribution.

The distribution market has been cut to the bone

i guess it’s a wait and see sort of thing

I am not sure about others but we get direct support from many hardware and software manufacturers as an end user.  Camera manufacturers, VMS platforms, Alarm panel manufacturer, Access control software and hardware.  Only one of these manufacturers sells directly to us the end user.  The others still require us to use a "Value Added" Reseller or partner.  For the end user, assuming we are not talking only base support, it helps us to resolve issues on our own or get an RMA going.  Granted we are very large and have a staff of 5 certified employees, 1-2 for each product that does base support before reaching out.  However, we do still reach out for stupid questions that a normal end user may ask also.
