We're checking out one of these for use with Hikvision cameras and having a helluva time getting a working stream into it. I've tried every possible combination of URIs using rtsp://, http(s):// (per the limited instructions), udp:// (per their example), with and without port number, with and without credentials, with and without the full path (/h264/ch1/main/av_stream) and without.
I find if I use rtsp:// it eventually fails over to some unknown camera... possibly at their office or factory in China? but with a timestamp in the Central time zone. All other schemes just sit on a black screen.
