Any Intrusion/Alarm Detection Across A Network?

We have a site with multiple environmental enclosures that were vandalized. We did not do the original install. We are going to put in new boxes with locks, put them up higher etc.

We are also considering putting some type of contact on them so that when they are opened, a siren/light goes off.

Is there any way to attach a contact to a the network and have it report back to an alarm panel?

What hardware are you putting in the boxes?

Ubiquiti TS-8 switch and UPS.

Its really odd, and we suspect someone knew the business as they opened all the 12x12 PVC boxes and took the TP-Link switches, injectors and all the Ubiquiti radios off the building. Everything was at an accessible height.

We didn't put it in, and we will be doing things differently when we do the repair.

The cost of the equipment in each box may not justify the expense individually, but if they hit 8 boxes, it can add up. We also need to take extra steps to minimize the possibility of this happening again. We have been out twice since this happened, and the 2nd time, more equipment was removed. So we have reason to believe when we do the repairs, someone is going to try it again.

1.  If this is for a camera system and the cameras have inputs just tie the contact into that to trip an alarm in the VMS.

2.  Put in network input modules from advantech or Axis and have those talk to an output at a head end which ties into an intrusion system.

UD#2 is right on the money. Some of the Adams(Advantech) I/O Modules can communicate directly with compatible VMS systems such as Milestone or Exacqvision to name a few.

Here is another P2P module that might be useful:

Good Luck!

I am not looking to tie into the VMS.

I want to put a window/door contact in the box, connect to the network, then tie into an intrusion panel.

The network is a wireless PTP network (ubiquiti).

Anyone of the P2P I/O modules will work. Contact + Input in the field ->Ethernet -> Output + Intrusion.

The Advantech units are capable of multi-site peer to peer linking so, 5 units in the field one unit at your intrusion head end.

If these are all independent network segments with internet access you can still P2P multi-site with a some port forwarding and ddns.

Hope that helps, good luck!

A little late but, Digital Monitoring Products has a solution. Use a 714N Network Zone Expander. Can power with POE or 12VDC. Connect to DMP XR150 or XR550 Control Panel.
