Analog HD 3.0 - Compatible Or Identical?

Does anyone know if the coming interoperability of CVI, TVI and AHD is accomplished by everyone using the same transmission/reception method, or are they still three seperate protocols, which they all understand?

My understanding is that the protocols are still different but the receiver can handle all 3, specifically from Techpoint.

Copied from our ISC West 2016 show report:

HD Analog All-in-One Chip

Techpoint was showing off their new 3.0 chip in a demo with a TVI camera (their variant), an AHD variant and a CVI one (Dahua camera used). Here are all the 3 variants connected to a single Techpoint chip all being displayed at 1080p at the monitor in the screen:

That noted, whether or not the manufacturers enable such support is another matter.

Was the CVI camera a CVI 3 or is it CVI 2?

Everyone will still make their own chip?

I saw the same demo setup at IFSEC in London last month at Techpoint's booth - it was using a CVI 2 camera.

The interoperability seems to be not so difficult at this point, although the signals are still proprietary. Obviously it can be realized without significant additional expenses both at the transmitter side (as shown by the multitude of cheap 4 in 1 cameras) as well as at the receiver side as this Techpoint demo shows. But indeed, the decision to include support for more than one HD standard depends on the will and market policy of each manufacturer.

Also, it seems that whenever a new generation of products are released in each of the HD standards, a new hardware platform is used - for example the new HD-TVI 3.0 already supports 5 Megapixel resolution which was shown live on the booth at IFSEC, and the Techpoint engineer there told me that 4K resolution is just around the corner for them:

To add to the confusion, not all HD-TVI 3.0 recorders will support this, so once you select a certain combo DVR in the near future, you would need to check: 1) Which HD standards are supported ? 2) Which resolutions are supported in each of the standards ? 3) What other limitations are in force (channel/type restrictions)? So although some kind of HD interoperability starts to settle in, there is still a long way to go in this and the standards will not be identical in near future.
