Do you know of a camera that does License Plate Recognition (LPR) in the camera? I'm looking for a camera that will provide an ASCII data format of licenses plates from the camera. This means that that the OCR software has to be in the camera. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Feb 06, 2017Arteco can do it with Hanwha cameras that utilize their Open Platform apps. I believe they have an API to send the text out of the camera. It also works with their VMS platform, as well as Hanwha NVRs via the POS/Text function.
A good camera to use is the SNZ-6320 in an outdoor housing with an external IR illuminator or the SNO-6084R bullet.

Their cameras offer an on-board recognition engine for stand-alone operations and can export out XML.
