Advice For Temporary Remote Monitoring For Residential Application?

Does anyone have any good advice or experiences with using a residential grade indoor network video camera for temporarily watching inside of rental home (about a week) while out for the day/night? What I am looking to do is bring the camera with me and set it up on the wifi at the home ... then set it up to watch the area near the entry door and send an email or text alert if there is motion near the door.

I've used a Samsung camera for something like this at an elderly relative's home, but was not a fan of the user interface and the various recording options for setting motion sensitivity and such. The Samsung (free) site for setting up the camera's communications and alert settings was easy enough, but it was a bit slow.

Thanks in advance

On the higher price side, the Nest Cam is a safe choice with fairly accurate alerting (though obviously expensive ~$200 and requires ~$10 a month to get alerts).

On the low end side, the Wal Mart Momentum cam, which sends alerts to app only on phones, not great VMD but super inexpensive at ~$37 total, no fees).
