Jul 15, 2018Thanks for sharing. Evidently, it uses an open source video surveillance system - motionEyeOS, I had not seen that before.
That noted, the main uses I see for this is hobbyist and education. Raspberry Pi is inexpensive but putting this together requires skill and time, which limits adoption.

Jul 15, 2018Yes this is most likely a DIY+ Self Interest solution/hobby.
I do not see it as commercial/residential deployment. I think going thru the setups with the hardware and software can help broaden some of the new technicians skillsets that do not have 20 years experience. It is quite the polar opposite from a nerd to do list with new technology.
The largest deficit I have now is some new green technicians cannot grasp the old technology....(configuring matrix switchers, PBX and Serial Networking).
Gaps are everywhere.
