I'm trying the mini NVR that Ethan tested a few months ago and I'm having issues with the RTSP streams. I only want to use it as a spot minitor. I Haven't been able to get any Axis cameras to go in via ONVIF, or RTSP. The RTSP stream I'm inputting is rtsp://ip_address/axis-media/media.amp is this correct? It's for an Axis M3114 VE.

Any help or ideas would be appreciated.

Basic question, but you are adding in the username and password, correct? I just want to make sure.

I am 99% sure Axis cameras worked fine using that URL on our NVR. Derek is plugging it in to check right now and we should be back with an answer in a few minutes.

Also, can you see that stream in VLC? Just want to confirm the camera is streaming properly as well.

Here's an even more basic question: is it the username password from the camera side or the credentials from the unit istelf?

It's the username and password you use to login to the camera.

I did get the stream in VLC. VLC used an http text which didn't work in the mini NVR.

I was never able to get the RTSP stream to work in VLC, though.

Try this URL: rtsp://<username>:<password>@<ipaddress>:554/axis-media/media.amp

It embeds the credentials right in the URL which sometimes solves problems for me.

Thanks, Ethan. It worked.......kind of. I was able to get it to stream, but not on the channel I wanted. I did the input for ch.1 and it didn't work. I then copied the info for all the channels and it worked for ch5 only. I was also only able to stream the sub stream. Weird, but for a spot monitor I think we can make it work. Can you send me an RTSP line for Panasonic cameras, too?

Ethan

I dusted this thing off the shelf and I've been messing with it today. Question: what would the sub stream URL be? ALso, if I add a sub stream will the URL for the main stream change?

Thanks for the fast response. Very professional. I'll have to try it on Monday. I'll let you know how it goes.

Am I correct in assuming the Axis camera is also being connected to a VMS while this stream is being requested?
