Would you think this would require more power? Will it be physically the same size? Hard to comprehend that amount of storage in an SD form factor!

Same SDXC standard. The standard, when designed support a filesystem up to 2Tb. The power draw and form factor have to be the same to bear the SDXC logo, otherwise it would have to be a new standard.

Wow, that is staggering and awesome for the photography world, but imagine it will be a long while before they get close in microSD which seems to be universal for IP cameras.

Curious to hear thoughts on how many GB is ideal for microSD card size...is there a limit to bigger is better? Anyone swear by a certain brand of the new cards designed for video recording/high endurance? (promise I'm not trying to sound risqué!)

John, think there is any interest in a survey on what's the preferred storage size of microSD Card for edge recording?

The most important factor is how often the card is overwritten. If you have a small card that is overwritten often, the lifespan is shorter than a larger card that is overwritten fewer times.
