Axis / Sensity Super LED Lighting Security System At Newark Airport?

The NY Times has a puzzling article today boasting about a super high tech system where "light fixtures are part of a new wireless network that collects and feeds data into software that can spot long lines, recognize license plates and even identify suspicious activity, sending alerts to the appropriate staff."

What's puzzling is that the company, Sensity, has an LED array with an Axis camera in the center as shown in these images:

And here's a promo video from the manufacturer claiming all sorts of amazing things:

I just don't get it. I recall Totus doing something similar but I just don't understand why this is so disruptive and exciting as the NY Times seems to indicate.

Putting a regular Axis camera in a lamp makes it super? Please help me understand.
